The world premiere of an all-new racing RPG resistor shows fans that this title is about more than just racing, it’s about fighting for what’s right.
The short one-minute trailer, which was unveiled at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase, gave us a first glimpse of what appears to be a brilliant mesh of story, racing, Mad Max, and anime.
Set in a dystopian world covered in sand and asphalt, our hero Aster will have to race against top dogs and a cast of characters that look like they came straight out of an anime to get back to town. While the motives behind this dangerous endeavor are yet to be known, Aster claims she “has to get back to town”, so we can only assume this is a fight close to her heart.
The racing looks like a thrilling ride that wouldn’t be out of place in a Mad Max movie, with customized cars, dangerous off-road driving, and of course questionable tactics, resistor will most likely keep fans in suspense until the very end.
Thankfully, this isn’t your average racing game, with a narrative that will hopefully be engaging and purposeful. In the trailer, Aster encounters more than her fair share of individual characters as she explores the open world, building a crew to defeat evil.
With everything from an antagonist who goes overboard with hair gel to a cybernetic granny, resistor seems to be full of surprises and could very well be featured in our best racing games if done right.
Resistor doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will be available on PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X | S, and you can add the game to your wishlist on Steam just now.
