Have you ever played a video game and thought to yourself, “Hey! Surely this guy is the digital incarnation of a quarter pound with triple pickle and bacon?
Of course you do. Burger King Japan knows you crave burger versions of all your favorite characters from The best RPG games and on, so he’s going to deliver the goods.
Holding BK announced its latest advertising campaign (opens in a new tab) is to promote Diablo 4. The face of the project is the queen of hell herself, and from December 16, Burger King outlets in the region will offer a Lilith Spicy Tomato double whopper cheeseburger. the hamburger will be joined by two other limited-time creations that are also based on Blizzard’s demonic hack n’ slash action game series. However, all this talk about blood and hamburgers is making me hungry to try out an interesting BK association game for myself.
Queen of Burgers
While you might not look at Lilith, the queen of the succubus, and immediately think of spicy tomato sauce, BK Holdings is keen to pay homage to a misunderstood character. “This is a burger inspired by the wrath of Lilith who descended into Sanctuary after a long banishment due to a blood ritual,” it said, referring to the events of the second Diablo game.
“This product is a specialty burger finished with a double grilled beef patty, four slices of cheese and a spicy tomato sauce,” the product description reads. on Famitsu (opens in a new tab). The sauce in question “contains a moderate spiciness of chili peppers and umami garlic”, which actually sounds quite tasty.
Other burgers in the Diablo 4 Burger King collection include the Butcher’s Double Meat Burger with Grilled Cheese and the Garlic Double Cheese Burger. You can buy any of these three (or all of them if you’re feeling particularly crafty) to get a free Lilith sticker with your order. Excuse me, but I’m booking a ticket to Tokyo.
Pizza action
As I read about BK’s whimsical burger of gaming icons, I couldn’t help but wonder: what fast food items would be my favorite characters?
One of my favorite games of 2022 was Resident Evil: The Villageso here I guess three of the Four Lords would be in pizza form. I’m going to use the terrible deals from Pizza Hut Hong Kong as a comparison base, so I hope you have a strong stomach.
- Salvatore Moreau (Seafood delight (opens in a new tab)): this sneaky creation features not only a tantalizing mix of scallops, cranberries and carrots, but the orange mayonnaise sauce adds a particularly disturbing finish that I think reflects Moreau’s overall repulsive attitude.
- Mrs. Dimitrescu (Cheese Scallop Offer (opens in a new tab)): let’s face it – Alcina is a queen, so she must have a pizza that culminates in, yes, another pizza. With five types of meat and a choice between scallops and peaches with pesto sauce, Lady D’s spiritual siblings couldn’t be more entertaining or captivating, for better or for worse.
- Karol Heisenberg (Beef legend (opens in a new tab)): like Heisenberg, this pizza starts with beef, peppers and barbecue sauce. Things start to get out of hand as you dig a little deeper because, like Heisenberg’s hopes of using Rose to destroy Miranda, our taste buds are crushed with a combination of peach, cherry, and tartar sauce.
But what about Donna Beneviento, what pizza topping could capture a black maid and her creepy doll, Angie? The only thing that comes to my mind is that I forgot to put the topping on the bottom of a regular Tesco pizza. Charred on the bottom, pale and tasteless on top. It wasn’t a good day.
Let’s hope Burger King’s diabolical burgers take off and we’ll see a whole plate of gaming connections.
